Our photographers have been shooting Gulangyu for 5+ years. They know which alley catches soft morning light, which wall blooms with bougainvillea, and how to frame the Twin Towers between colonial rooftops. Unlike typical "free" shoots that deliver 10 images in 30 minutes, ours is a full 2 hours with no rush.
What to Wear
Against red tiles, green banyans and blue sea, light colours — white, cream, pale blue, soft yellow — work best. Avoid bright red or busy patterns. Long dresses, straw hats and woven bags are perfect; gentlemen look sharp in white shirts and khakis.
Best Time
7–9 a.m. for soft light and empty lanes; 4–6 p.m. for golden-hour backlit portraits. We schedule around your itinerary and the tides.
